During the pandemic, we’ve all been getting more adventurous with our food. Either that, or we’ve been sticking the same old, dependable square meals. Either way, maybe this whole time we would have been better off in the US, where a ham sandwich is replaced by a pastrami supreme on rye bread and delicious amounts of salad.
If you think about it, lunch time? Sandwich. Snack time? Sandwich. In general, if you’re hungry, put a sandwich in front of someone and they’ll rarely complain.
In the US, though, the sandwich game is on. There, you will find a whole new game when it comes to sandwich making. It’ll make you rethink your entire lockdown cuisine. Think you enjoyed the classic cheese and pickle? Think again. I’m about to blow your mind. Maybe it’ll even make you move to the US in the window between lockdowns, Boris depending, of course. Next slide please.
Turkey Sandwich
First off, we have the turkey sandwich. This otherwise-thought-of-as-Christmas-meat is thickly sliced into a seasame seeded bun. Of course, it comes lathered in mayonnaise and stuffed with lettuce. The bird is hickory smoked first though, always.
Fish Sandwich
Second comes the fish sandwich. This oddity also hit the UK by storm. Here, though, freshly caught halibut is breaded and fried on a bun. And, just like the must have with our fish and chips, tartar sauce comes with it.
Mozerella Sandwich
Thirdly, we have the classic mozeralla sandwich. This comes with slices of tomato or roast peppers. As well as this, fresh basil, splashes of extra virgin olive oil and mozeralla is added. Delicious. Basically a pizza but as a sandwich. What could be better?
Catfish Sandwich, Pastrami Aandwich and Sausage Sandwich
Then we have fried catfish sandwiches, pastrami sandwiches, and the sausage sandwich. Unlike the classic British sausage bap, the US include provolone peppers bathed in marinara. Typically, the famous sandwich is wonderfully Italian.
Lobster Rolls
Especially in Conneticut, lobster rolls then come in at 7th. Inside the toasted bun hosts the meat with melted butter. Perfect by the sea.
Italian Hoague
Back to our Italian routes, though, the Italian hoague is worth a mention. This sandwich includes a selection of cured meats, provolone, veggies, and red wine vinegarette. Yum.
Breakfast Biscuit
Unusually, the US’s breakfast biscuit sounds rather fabulous. Fried chicken, pimento cheese, and bacon marmalade. What could make a more perfect morning?
