KFC Wins (Read: Loses) Holidays With Fried Chicken Scented Firelogs

Not quite finger-lickin’ good.

Wish you could have the smell of the 11 herbs and spices fill your whole house this season? Well now you can, thanks to KFC. Leave it to this chain to come up with the most frivolous (and pointless?) holiday offering of the season.

KFC has created fireplace logs ripe with the scent of its original fried chicken recipe. Light one of those babies on fire, and guests won’t know if they’ve stepped into your humble abode or a fast-food joint! We know everyone is looking to get their hands on this must-have item before the holidays arrive. While KFC’s food might be a steal, the 11 Herbs & Spices Firelog doesn’t come as cheap. Each log costs $18.99.

Andrea Zahumensky, chief marketing officer of KFC US, had this to say about the creation:

“At KFC, we have always been proud of our role in bringing loved ones together at the dinner table around a bucket of our world-famous fried chicken. Now this winter we’re bringing all the things we love – family, friends, and fried chicken – together around the fire with our scented firelog.”

This log may bring families together…when they’re running away from their house and the smell of fried chicken smoldering in the fireplace. Not to harp on this idea too much, but really, KFC?

Interestingly, the log is relatively eco-friendly. The firelogs are manufactured by Enviro-Log, made of 100% recycled materials, and less wasteful than traditional logs.

Sadly, the logs can only be shipped to the US and Canada. Sorry UK, we know you were looking forward to the Bucket Meal smell wafting into your home’s every nook and cranny. Hopefully these logs make a big return next year and expand into other scents like Bo-berry biscuit and mashed potatoes.

At least the restaurant has stepped up their game with a new type of french fry.
