So, let’s be honest…2021 has not turned out to be what we were all hoping for. COVID-19 is still going strong, people are still waiting to get the vaccine, and regular life struggles are amplified because of all this. Whenever we can catch a break, even a small one, it’s wonderful. Hearing that a Canadian bar is changing the names of some of their burgers and fries to office supplies so you can expense your lunch is pretty genius!
Good Fortune Bar in Toronto, Ontario, Canada has changed the names of some of their burgers to common office supplies or electronics so you can get your boss to pay for your lunch. They want people to “Order. Eat. Expense. Repeat” (ladbible.com 1). The burger names have changed to things like “Basic Steel Stapler, Mini Dry Erase Whiteboard, Wired Earphones With Mic, and Silicone Keyboard Cover” (ladbible.com 1). This does seem like a good plan but can’t go too overboard with it, especially if you don’t want your boss to find out.
More About Good Fortune Bar
The burger names are clever but fries disguised as a “Braided HDMI Cord” and a San Pellegrino disguised as a “Ball Point Black Gel Pens” are my favorites (ladbible.com 2). While this is a brilliant move, this could become too much of a good thing. If your boss or any of the higher-ups see this and become suspicious, you’re in trouble. There are only so many whiteboards and staplers one person needs. Maybe switch it up with the items and only buy them once a month or maybe even longer. If you’re going to be sneaky, you have to be able to do it well. Regardless though, this is a genius plan! But now that word is out, who knows how long it is going to last.
