Some of the world’s most largely populated cities are the most compact.
MetaBall studios, who often post videos surrounding geography and population density, have created a side-by-side comparison of the world’s largest cities, and how densely populated each one is.
Sourced from a paper published at the start of 2020, Demographia World Urban Areas, the video shows a visualization of what this would look like if we were flying over them, compared to each other. Surprisingly America has some of the biggest cities in terms of geographical size.
Tokyo, which has one of the largest populations of 37,977,000 people is also pretty large in comparison to London, which has a population of 10, 979, 000 people which is very dense.
Overpopulation occurs when a species’ population exceeds the carrying capacity of its environment. This is common in the world’s biggest cities now and is one of the largest factors affecting climate change. The video below highlights how crazy it is that some of the smallest areas have the world’s largest amount of people.
