The Netflix original series The Watcher is based on the true story of the Broaddus family. For the series, the family was renamed, and some of the events were even fictionalized.
The show revolves around the Brannocks, a family of four who begin to receive strange letters from someone calling themselves “The Watcher” after they move into what was supposed to be their dream home.
Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale play the leading roles of Nora and Dean Brannock. The rest of the cast includes Jennifer Coolidge, Noma Dumezweni, Mia Farrow, Margo Martindale, Henry Hunter Hall, Richard Kind, and Isabel Gravitt.
On November 7th, Netflix declared that The Watcher had been renewed for a second season. Previously, we had assumed The Watcher season 2 would most likely not be renewed because Netflix labelled it as a limited series. A limited series generally consists of one season, and a complete story is told within that season.
It’s not surprising that Netflix would want more of the series, as in its first two weeks, The Watcher earned over 273 million hours watched.
