When Will We See Walter White Again?

Bryan Cranston says it might be sooner than you think!

The end of Breaking Bad left many wondering just what happened to Walter White. Jesse Pinkman narrowly escaped the Neo-Nazi that held him captive and Walt was shot, presumed dead. But as any avid watcher of the show knows, you don’t discount good old Walt.

At the 2019 Tony’s, Entertainment Tonight snagged a quick interview with Cranston before he went in (he earned his second Tony for his work in the Broadway adaptation of the dark satire Network). ET’s Keltie Knight asked him if Walter would appear in the movie and Cranston told her “Well, rigor mortis has a way of allowing that to happen.” Um, what?

ET’s Interview with Cranston

Way back in November of 2018, the Albuquerque Journal broke news of a secret project being filmed in the city. The log line stated the movie would be about a man who was kidnapped and making a bid for freedom. Many locals (I happen to have lived in this city at the time!) were over the moon that our beloved Breaking Bad might be coming back to the screen. This also led to huge speculation about what this movie could be about — yet, creator Vince Gilligan may have give us huge clues way back in 2013!

In an interview with GQ Magazine, Gilligan was asked just what happened to Jesse at the end of the series. Gilligan told them:

My personal feeling is that he got away. But the most likely thing, as negative as this sounds, is that they’re going to find this kid’s fingerprints all over this lab and they’re going to find him within a day or a week or a month. And he’s still going to be on the hook for the murder of two federal agents. But yeah, even though that’s the most likely outcome, the way I see it is that he got away and got to Alaska, changed his name, and had a new life. You want that for the kid. He deserves it.

One thing’s for sure when it comes to a Breaking Bad movie, no one will be able to guess what will happen. Whether Walter White makes a miraculous recovery and appearance will remain to be seen. But regardless of what happens, this movie is going to bring Cranston and Paul lots of new fans.
