The story of “House of Guinness” parallels the Shelby family because it comes from the brilliant mind of Steven Knight, transporting us to the back alleys and dignified mansions of Dublin. Specifically, the world-renowned brewery. Viewers are being teleported back into the 1860s, following the powerful and licentious Guinness family.

The goal of the series is to tell the Guinness story and to make it bigger. Bringing it to life personalizes the aristocratic names and faces we’ve heard in history. The root of the story will be something we’ve never explored on television, with similar shows like “Dynasty,” “The Gilded Age,” and the eloquent, “Peaky Blinders.” Excitingly viewers can look forward to gritty and dramatic re-telling of a story about a family.

Honestly, what’s better than a family story if it’s not mixed with debauchery and greed?

How did the story conspire?

Stemming from a relaxed night in Ireland from the mind of Ivana Lowell, her family tree consists of being the offspring of Guinness dynasty. Her goal of the story was to tell the family lore with truth seeded in it, unlike the partially fictitious series “Peaky Blinders.” The project itself has taken six years to get into production, she employed the help of the creator of the “Peaky Blinders”, Steven Knight. The siblings within the tale are fighting over what would modernly estimate to $162 million. Their story doesn’t end with a brew if anything their story continues with the fact that 1.8 billion pints of Guinness are poured and consumed globally each year. Filmed in northwestern England, it isn’t the most flattering tale, but it is truth, and nothing is better than a bloody good true story.

Lowell’s dream for the Guinness story is to show every part of the Guinness family story from it’s conception to now. The Guinness family is sewn into the city of Dublin, and there are many historical sights where you can see their markings scorched on this Earth. Funnily enough, there is actually a secret little lake in Dublin, visible from high up on the Wicklow Mountains, Lough Tay also known as Guinness Lake. The murky waters resembling a good old pint of Guinness. You can even catch Lowell and her daughter Daisy as set extras in laced up corsets. Even if it’s for a freeze frame, Lowell’s family story proceeds all of us. Nothing is better than a pint of Guinness. We cannot wait to say cheers alongside her family and their story.

Who’s the cast?

Alongside the palpable siblings we also have notable actors and actresses joining the cast making it an exuberant tale that parallel’s “Peaky Blinders.” From the highly acclaimed, BBC series, “Happy Valley” James Norton plays Sean Rafferty. Alongside Norton, from “Game Of Thrones” Jack Gleeson plays Byron Hedges, Seamus O’ Hara plays Patrick Cochrane. Niamh McCormach plays Ellen Cochrane. Michael McElhatton as John Potter. Dervla Kirwan as Aunt Agnes Guinness. Michael Colgan as Reverend Henry Gratton. Danielle Galligan as Lady Olivia Hedges, David Wilmot as Bonnie Champion. Jessica Reynolds as Lady Christine O’ Madden, Hilda Fay as Sultan. Ann Skelly as Adelaide Guinness, and Elizabeth Dulau as Henriettea St Lawernce.

With a jampacked cast of talented individuals we are getting performances made for the big screen. I couldn’t imagine a better cast for such a tale. The cast is a mix of English and Irish, and you can tell the Irish pride has been bled into the story. The cast has taken to social media to post images from the upcoming series. Members of the cast have portrayed their anticipation and excitement behind this project that they worked hard on. And I personally can’t wait to enjoy a pint alongside the Guinness’.

The distinguished dynasties don’t end, with the Guinness family. Be sure to check out the “Peaky Blinders” film set to release in early 2026.
