There may be spoilers for season one in this article… if you haven’t watched The Witcher yet, what are you waiting for?
The first season of The Witcher was an overwhelming success for Netflix. Those of us who are gamers lived and breathed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and it was amazing to see Geralt on the big screen with Roach. But all too soon that first season was watched and rewatched and we were left wanting more.
So much happens in the span of eight episodes that there is no way we can cover it all here. Suffice it to say that the first four episodes serve as both flashbacks/backstory, as well as Ciri’s present. Upon first viewing, the jumbled timelines definitely confused me but by the third watch I figured it all out. Geralt in the past happens (it is supposed) 40 years before Nilfgaard invades Cintra. Yennifer in the past happens about 30 years before Nilfgaard invades. Ciri is the present timeline and through her, we see Nilfgaard attack and destroy her kingdom.

The last couple of episodes mainly deal with the present timeline and it involves Ciri trying to find Geralt. Yennifer totally destroys the Niflgaard army before disappearing and Geralt is wounded while defending a camp of Cintran refugees. He is taken to a farm to recover and Ciri is taken to the same — finally, they meet! But the first question she asks him, “Who is Yennifer?” So. Many. Questions.

If you watched The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, you will know who trained Geralt and where he was trained as a boy. According to the teaser, Season 2 of The Witcher finds Geralt back home with Ciri in tow. The trailer doesn’t answer many more questions than that, but we do get a little sneak peek at Yennifer.
The Witcher Season 2 debuts December 17.
