How could House of Cards recover after the excursion of one of its main stars? Robin Wright is the answer.
Season 6 of House of Cards is coming soon, and it looks like Claire Underwood (played by Robin Wright) is taking over. Claire has been around since season 1, though wasn’t the main lead.
While the trailer remains vague in terms of plot details, the statement is clear. Formerly the First Lady, Claire Underwood now sits behind the oval office.
Previously, Frank Underwood was the main character. But… Kevin Spacey played him. Infamously, the star has been hit with several sexual assault allegations. And then tried to cover it up by coming out as gay.

Netflix decided this wouldn’t fly, and cut Spacey out of the show. For a while, this dilemma left House of Cards stranded. However, the Netflix series quickly recovered. Thankfully, they had Robin Wright.
Wright’s character is significant to House of Cards. It’s fitting, then, that the woman behind the man takes centre stage.
This is the final season so it’ll be interesting to see how things play out. Don’t get too excited. Netflix hasn’t revealed an official release date yet, though don’t worry. It’ll come out sometime in autumn. That’s a bit of a long wait, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it.
Of course, Wright has had a long and successful career. But is it just me, or did she go off the radar for a while? There’s definitely something to be said about the way we treat aging stars, particularly women. It’s refreshing to see her take the lead.
In conclusion, Robin Wright is great and I’m glad to see more of her.
