Netflix has finally announced their upcoming Shondaland project! In March 2022, the streaming service first began airing the series. The series is said to be a humorous murder mystery set at the White House. It is inspired by Kate Andersen Brower’s “The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House.”
The official logline reads, “132 rooms. One hundred fifty-seven suspects a single body. An incredibly odd detective. The White House’s downstairs, upstairs, and backstairs are all included in the screwball whodunit “The Residence,” which is centred among the various staff of the most renowned house in the world.
With her longtime partner Betsy Beers, Shonda Rhimes will work as an executive producer. Paul William Davies, a longtime Shondaland producer, will serve as the show’s executive producer and showrunner. Both Davies and Shondaland have an overall deal with Netflix. Following the existing agreement, ‘The Residence’ is being produced.
UzoAduba, the standout star of ‘Orange is the New Black,’ is returning to Netflix! According to Deadline, the renowned and three-time Emmy-winning actress will play the lead role in ‘The Residence.’ A consulting detective, Cordelia Cupp, is characterized as having “a unique and, to some, unsettling” conversational style. Netflix has not yet disclosed other cast members.

The Residence on Netflix is now under active development, which means the script is being written and edited with pre-production to follow. “The Residence” will include eight episodes, each lasting about 60 minutes, according to Netflix. Don’t expect a season 2 because the series is referred to in several places as a “miniseries.” Although Netflix hasn’t provided a release date for The Residence, based on the production timetable, we believe it won’t be premiered until 2024.
