Even though pandemic times are still present, emerging back into any kind of normal routine is beginning to happen. Going to the movies is something most of us surely did a lot pre-pandemic. Slowly but surely movies are making a comeback to theaters and people are slowly going back to theaters.

Streaming services like Netflix, Prime, HBO Max, Disney+, and Peacock all took advantage of everyone staying home and bought rights to movies and made originals so you could enjoy a new movie at home, much to theaters irritation probably. We all had to do what we could to survive or make the best of the situation. The Batman opened last Friday and had the biggest opening weekend of the year so far.

The Batman brought in $128.5 million in North America alone and totaled $248.5 million globally. That’s quite the haul. Yes, it’s a DC Comics picture and those and Marvel always rake in a lot of money, but given we’re still trying to emerge from Covid, those are really high totals. Shows just how powerful films can be.

Robert Pattinson is a better Batman than I was thinking he would be. There are also plans to make this into a trilogy of movies and possibly a series on HBO Max. So, we’re not done yet with this particular series. Will the next movies gross just as much or more? And how will the stories spin into a series? All questions we’ll have to wait on and see what happens.

Will the Joker make an appearance at some point? Pattinson seems to think so.
