South Park is one of America’s most vulgar, humiliating, and politically incorrect TV shows to ever air, most would agree. Yet in 2018, Hulu claimed that South Park was their most-watched TV series coming in with 135 million hours of screen time.

Now, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker happily rejoice in the renewal of three new seasons. This renewal will result in about 30 new episodes for fans to indulge in. South Park comes in at 327 episodes, only second behind the Simpsons, which has accumulated a whopping 639 episodes, if you can believe it.

South Park’s 23rd season is scheduled to air September 25th, which doesn’t include the newest three seasons, putting the show at 26 seasons. Producers Matt and Trey joke around about the unexpected longevity of the show in an interview stating,

“Apparently, our efforts to get our own show canceled have fallen short”, Trey Parker and Matt Stone joked in a press release. “Luckily, we love Comedy Central and Kent [the President of the network, ed.] and our staff so we are looking forward to new cancellation opportunities in the next few years.”

For now we can expect the show to continue with no end in site going on over 20 years. It is safe to say that crass humor is in with the kids, and adults alike.
