Many well-known filmmakers have been all over the press lately – in a good way. Christopher Nolan just released his long-awaited project, Dunkirk, which is sure to amaze. And it’s rumored that Quentin Tarantino, always loved for his satire and over-exaggerated violence, is also working on a new film.
Tarantino is an icon in the filmmaking industry. With blockbusters like Django Unchained, Inglorious Bastards, and The Hateful Eight (his most recent film), his new potential movie is also sure to wow. It was recently leaked online that Tarantino may be creating a true-story film based on serial killer Charles Manson.
As told by The Hollywood Reporter, a script about the leader of the Manson Family murders is receiving its finishing touches. There are also two actors potentially already lined up for lead roles: Jennifer Lawrence and Brad Pitt.
It is reported that two brothers who frequently collaborate with Tarantino will be heading the movie’s production. Bob and Harvey Weinstein have worked with the filmmaker on a number of his previous films.
Nothing about this film is definite quite yet. However, more circulating rumors from The Hollywood Reporter say that one of the film’s story lines will center around actress Sharon Tate. Tate, killed in 1969 by one of Manson’s followers, was eight months pregnant at the time of her death.
The magazine makes it very clear though that if Lawrence were cast, she would not be playing the role of Tate.
Though this project sounds exciting, several sources have pointed out that nothing is nailed down at the moment. Lest people forget that Tarantino announced his retirement (once again) after the release of The Hateful Eight.
However, following his retirement announcement, he spoke about the possibility of making a TV series: either an Australian take on Bonnie and Clyde or a third western. So it appears that not even Quentin Tarantino knows what his plans are.
But if you are a firm believer in rumors, the Manson film is “set” for a 2018 release with Universal. Looks like we will all just have to wait and see.
