But you’ll have to wait until next year

Sir David Attenborough’s much anticipated Dynasties series will premiere on BBC 1 this weekend but not wanting to miss an opportunity to promote one of their own shows, Netflix piggybacked on the buzz and dropped an ad for the passionate naturalists’ next show on the streaming service.

Sir David, now aged a spritely 92 joined forces with Netflix, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Silverback Films to film an eight part series entitled ‘Our Planet’. The series was shot in stunning 4K, took four years to make, 600 members of crew and was filmed in 50 different countries.

Produced by Silverback films, the production company run by natural-history production veteran Alastair Fothergill, who created the BBC’s “Blue Planet” and “Planet Earth” series said “Our Planet’ is our most ambitious endeavor to date, “We hope it will inspire and delight hundreds of millions of people across the world so they can understand our planet, and the environmental threat it faces, as never before.”

He brings the stars out

Speaking at WWF’s State of the Planet address event on Thursday, Sir David said the series would “take viewers on a spectacular journey of discovery. He went on to say “Today we have become the greatest threat to the health of our home, but there’s still time for us to address the challenges we’ve created, if we act now. We need the world to pay attention.”

A host of celebs turned up to support Sir David and the WWF including Ellie Goulding, Brooklyn Beckham and reality stars Jamie Jewitt and Camilla Thurlow.

Our Planet will be the first Netflix series for Sir David who has previously fronted and narrated programmes for Sky and digital channel Eden.

It’s awesome that we get another Attenborough series but here’s the kicker, it won’t be aired until Friday the 5th of April 2019. Until then there’s Dynasties starting on BBC 1 this Sunday and you can check out the teaser for Our Planet here:
