Netflix is currently adding plenty of thrillers to its collection, and it also added the adaptation of the Christine Mangan novel, Palace of the Drowned.
According to sources, this feature film is attached to Netflix. It is based on the novel by well-known author Christine Mangan. Mangan is popularly known for her 2018 novel-Tangerine.
The book options were selected by Netflix shortly after the book debuted, aiming to adapt it in some form. Over a year later, it can be confirmed that a feature-film adaptation is what Netflix has planned for the title.
Here’s what the book is about and what we can expect-
The time was 1966, and Frankie Croy retreated to her friend’s vacant palazzo in Venice. After years of the initial success of Frankie’s debut novel, she has wasted her career trying to live up to expectations. Presently, after a critical review of her most recent work, she needs to restore herself and get re-inspired.
Then enters Gilly. She is an intelligent young admirer eager to make friends, and Gilly seems committed to instilling herself into Frankie’s solitary life. However, there’s something about Gilly that gives Frankie pause.
With this, a series of lies and revelations emerge, and the lives of these two women get tragically altered while the catastrophic 1966 flooding of Venice destroys the city.
The Suspenseful and transporting Christine Mangan’s Palace of the Drowned brings the mystery of Venice to life. On the other hand, it delivers a twisted tale of ambition and human nature.
Sources say that Nicole Kidman and Luara Dern are working on the project.
Dern is supposed to play the role of Frankie Croy, and Kidman is going to play Gilly (the story’s villain).
