US director Martin Scorsese and British writer Michael Hirst both have their fair share of critically acclaimed projects and now we get to look forward to a collaboration between the two creatives.
Known for directing popular crime film classics like Goodfellas and Mean Streets, Scorsese is shifting gears by experimenting in the world of television; however, he is not completely unfamiliar with TV, having briefly worked on Boardwalk Empire. Besides, benefitting from his notorious success running the shows Tudor and Vikings, Hirst will be there to lend a major helping hand.
Their upcoming show, The Caesars, will explore the history of early rulers in Ancient Rome. It will begin by telling the story of Julius Caesar and his rise to power.
Apparently, Scorsese is “totally passionate about the Romans” and has been looking forward to creating a project like this for a really long time.
The series has yet to be picked up by a television channel, but hopefully, they will get an offer soon!
