There are currently five Star Trek shows in active production on Paramount of Discovery, Picard, Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks and Prodigy. With these extra resources from streaming platforms, Davies said that he hopes Doctor Who might eventually approach Star Trek’s modern pace. The original Doctor Who‘s showrunner at its resurgence in 2005 was Davies, and he was present for the show’s David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston periods. He also created multiple spinoffs during this time, such as Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
After the 2023 specials, Davies will oversee the 14th season of the modern Doctor Who sequel, with Ncuti Gatwa displaying the next Doctor. A number of images of Gatwa in character have been released, alongside promotional pictures of Millie Gibson as the Doctor’s newest friend, Ruby Sunday. Season 14 started filming back in December. Three Doctor Who specials will come to Disney+ in Nov. 2023, while Season 14 premieres in 2024.
As one of the most popular and longest-running science fiction franchises that predates even the likes of Star Trek and Star Wars, the British series Doctor Who has substantially influenced the fans of Star Trek series. At the core of it lies an uncomplicated story about an alien who voyages through space and time and ventures diverse experiences.

Doctor Who is associated with Disney+, so it won’t be an exclusive series to watch, and the show will be available for streaming in November. The BBC will own and produce Doctor Who and get benefitted from a larger budget that will allow it to strive. Alike Star Trek, Doctor Who is now turning to be a new popular name in Entertainment.
