Doctor Who’s first companion was played by teen pop idol Billie Piper. Although Christoper Eccleston’s run as the Ninth Doctor was short, Piper remained on the show after him and made a mark. Her time with David Tennant depicted one of the most profound, heartbreaking storylines that Doctor Who ever had.
Considering how epic those stories were, we can only wonder: will Billie Piper return to the series and join Tennant for the 60th-anniversary show next year? Or how does she feel about a spin-off series?
Will Billie Piper return to Doctor Who?
Yes, she would come back for a spin-off series, but only under one condition. “If it was shot in London – sorry that’s a loveless answer!”
Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies: “if you’re reading this, Piper is ready to return, so can you please film a short arc in London so she can come back? Cool, k, thanks!”
Piper stated that she misses her time on Doctor Who, especially working with Tennant and Matt Smith. All three of them have achieved great success in other projects.
Piper is currently starring in Sky Original’s I Hate Suzie Too, Tennant has been in Amazon’s Good Omens, and Smith is on HBO’s House of the Dragon.
If Davies can find a way to give Piper her spin-off show and get the band back together once more, that would be a Whovian’s dream come true.
