The third season of His Dark Materials is near, and HBO is doing things differently this time. Season 3 contains a total of eight episodes, just like season 1. However, HBO is releasing them a little differently. Whereas new episodes of His Dark Materials were released at a rate of one per week during seasons 1 and 2.
Is HBO doing this because it wants to wrap up the show quickly?
His Dark Materials never became a massive hit, so maybe the network feels like burning through what’s left and moving on. But releasing multiple episodes at once has become normal in the last few years, so maybe HBO is trying to keep up with the times.
The first two seasons of His Dark Materials were adapted from The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife, respectively. Season 3 will adapt Amber Spyglass, the third and final book in Philip Pullman’s trilogy.
