Indiana Jones -That’s right folks, Indy is coming back for the fifth installment in the legendary movie franchise! Harrison Ford will excitingly be reprising his role as the iconic character, Steven Spielberg will direct, John Williams will continue his decade long streak as composer, while David Koepp, George Lucas, and Jonathan Kasdan will write the script.

Originally meant to be released in 2019, Indian Jones 5 has since been pushed back twice; first to 2020, then to 2021. As of right now, a release date of July 9, 2021 is expected. The only known cast member at this time is Harrison Ford who is eager to get to work on the project. Variety recently spoke with Ford at the premiere for The Secret Life of Pets 2 in which he plays the role of Rooster the dog. In the interview, Ford claimed Indiana Jones 5 “should be starting to shoot sometime next year.”

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “Things are coming along well.”

Although there has been some speculation as to whether or not Ford would pass his hat on to another actor, the 70-year-old firmly told NBC’s Today “Nobody is going to be Indiana Jones, don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones,” laughing. “When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.” Ford has always been very fond and protective of this particular character, which is completely understandable. After all, when I look at Harrison Ford, I see Indiana Jones — the two are synonymous in my mind. Simply put, he’s irreplaceable.

We have a grueling 2 year wait period until the newest installment hits theaters summer 2021. Hopefully we’ll hear some juicy tidbits as the project develops. Until then, I’m off to search for a golden idol or two in some ancient temple with my fedora snug on my head and my whip firm in hand. Cheers!
