The very first trailer for the new installment in the Avatar franchise, Avatar: The Way Of Water, has been released. Watch it here:

The new installment is set to premiere on 16 December 2022 after being delayed several times due to covid. James Cameron explained that “Covid hit us like it his everybody… We lost about four and a half months of production.” However, much to everyone’s delight he also confirmed that “we’re a hundred percent complete on Avatar 2 and we’re sort of ninety-five percent complete on Avatar 3.” The director also added that he felt very lucky to have chosen New Zealand for the film shoot as it has been ranked first or second-best country in the world for its Covid response.

Before the release of the trailer, fans knew very little about the new Avatar installment other than that it existed, and it made Zoe Saldana cry for 20 minutes. Sounds like a riot, right? The actor told fans to ‘brace themselves’ after she was shown footage of the film.

“I can get choked up just talking about it because I was able to see just 20 minutes of the second installment right before the year ended, last year. And I was speechless, I was moved to tears.” Saldana said to journalist Kevin McCarthy.

Even if you weren’t the biggest fan of Avatar 1, it’s still possible you’ll love this new installment. Despite reusing the same characters, Saldana claims that “Avatar 2 is definitely a leap from the Avatar 1, so I think you really have to brace yourself for it, but it’s going to be an adventure you will not forget.”
