This new GoT Trailer, created by fans, has been causing a rift in the kingdom and a lot of fans (believe it or not) are voicing their opinions all over the internet.
I think it’s safe to assume that Game of Thrones fans are some of the most loyal, dedicated — occasionally unstable — fans in television history (and even if they’re not, they’ve got to be pretty damn close). So it should come as no surprise that when they found out that the show would be coming to an end, the fans would need something to keep them satisfied until a spin-off series could take over.
To say that “Westeros the Series,” as it’s being called, has received mixed reviews, would be an understatement. The comments people are leaving about the trailer range from enthusiastic and optimistic about the premise, to cynical and deeply critical about its lack of imagination.
Audience feedback aside, this modernized version of the series has people re-thinking the show’s potential. Trailers like this have made people reach into their creative depths and decided to push the boundaries of what they can do within a show’s universe. (Anyone else remember the Seinfeld horror movie trailer?)
This isn’t the only trailer created in hopes of creating a new spin-off, either. An animated trailer has also been created called “Doom of Valyria,” which means fans are really exploring the many different angles the show has to offer.
I don’t think I have to argue that Game of Thrones has had a major influence on our generation (I probably wouldn’t argue about that because if I started to I would immediately lose interest and put on an episode of Fraiser instead) but the most significant effect the show has had — if you ask me — is the fact that the show has made a dent in the list of most popular dog names. Usually popular movies, tv shows and actors have influence over the names given to people, but thanks to a scene that features character John Snow saving dire wolf puppies, the show has convinced some of its die-hard fans to start naming puppies after the pups seen on the show.
