Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, the viral YouTube horror series that traumatized us all is officially getting a TV Show on Channel 4.
For those of the uninitiated, first of all – where have you been?- Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared is a horror series that went viral on YouTube back in 2011 when the first (of 6) episodes was uploaded.
And from that day the world was forever changed.
The series follows the trio of Red Guy, Yellow Guy & Duck as they’re taught…valuable life lessons…through possibly the most trauma-inducing videos that walk the line between bad trip, and utter nightmare fuel.
Created by Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling, the show was a project the duo worked on in their spare time when they were students at University, with the videos having no budget but some pretty big ideas.
Well, those videos are transcending YouTube and coming to the silver screen this September.
Little is known about the upcoming show, but a teaser trailer has recently given us a little bit of insight into it, with plenty of references to previous videos.
The trailer shows our trio sitting around the kitchen table – reminiscent of the very first video – and features the titular fly buzzing about before Duck swats it, uttering his iconic line from the third episode: ‘Pesky Bee’.
However, they’re shown on a TV screen within a completely decimated living room – what can it mean?!
As fans scramble to uncover any hints and decipher hidden meanings from the short 50-second clip, attendees at Indie Sundance 2019 were lucky enough to view the very first episode of the upcoming show.
The episode is set in the town of Clayhill and follows the residents investigating the disappearance of the town’s mayor. With the little information we have, it’s hard to say whether the show will have an overarching plot or will do more of an episodic approach, either way, I’m sure the fans will be tuning in to watch.
