Casting Begins For Game Of Thrones Prequel ‘House of the Dragon’

Everything we know about the upcoming project.

HBO is finally able to get started with House of the Dragon, the highly anticipated prequel to the hit tv series.

The show is said to be set almost 300 years before the time of Game Of Thrones. It is based on George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood, and will tell the story of House Targaryen.

Information from the official GOT Twitter account have revealed that Miguel Sapochnik will be directing the pilot episode, which has got some fans very excited. Sapochnik was behind some of the most memorable GOT episodes such as ‘The Long Night’ and ‘Hardhome’. He also won an Emmy and DGA honours for ‘Battle of the Bastards’.

No actors have been officially linked to the new project yet, and it doesn’t seem like official plot details have been revealed. However, anyone who has read the novel itself will know that it covers a whopping 150-year time span. It also deals with the Targaryen Civil War in detail, which fans predict will be a key plot.

This project will replace the previously announced prequel starring Naomi Watts. After recording the pilot episode, HBO decided not to go ahead with the original show.

But don’t get too excited, as the ten episode prequel isn’t set to air until mid 2022.

In other GOT news, it appears that Richard Brake wasn’t happy with the ending of the show. The actor, who played the infamous Night King, has revealed that he would have preferred the finale ending with his character killing everyone. Nice.

He claimed in an interview that he ‘wanted him to wipe everyone out’, but recognised that ‘you can’t always get what you want’! We think this would have been a great ending.

The prequel looks like it’s going to be great, but if you really can’t wait, you can catch up on all eight seasons of the show on Amazon Prime.

If you’re all caught up but need another GOT fix, check out this hilarious video of Snoop Dog reacting to the show’s best bits…
