English actor Sacha Baron Cohen played a prank on Rudy Giuliani, the former NYC mayor, that ended in the police being called. The crime, you may ask? A lacy, pink bikini.
Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen is known for his comedic performances and his outrageous satire. Weeks ago, Cohen disguised himself and attended a far-right rally in Washington state. At this rally of about 500 attendees, he got them to sing a racist sing-along before making his escape once people caught on to his antics. He also tricked Sarah Palin into an interview by disguising himself as a disabled war veteran.
However, his shenanigans don’t stop there.
Former mayor Rudy Giuliani believed he was going to be in an interview where he responds to how New York City has been handling the COVID-19 pandemic. The former mayor instantly knew that something about this interview wasn’t right when he saw the actor donning a lacy, pink bikini. “Business casual” seems to have gotten laxer over the years.
Rudy Giuliani, thankfully, gives us a vivid description of Cohen’s attire, “It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top, it looked absurd. He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn’t what I would call distractingly attractive.”
The former mayor also states his reasoning for calling the police in the first place, “This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shake-down, so I reported it to the police. I only later realised it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me.”
Although Rudy Giuliani says he feels good about Sacha Baron Cohen not “getting to him”, his twitter feed says different. He posted as well as retweeted tweets saying that Cohen’s scam-interview prank was “foiled”. I gotta say… if you feel like you have to prove to everyone on twitter that you aren’t fazed by a prank from a celebrity whose entire career is based upon political satire, you got got, my guy.
Rudy Giuliani says that the celebrity’s prank didn’t “get” him but expresses his upset about it after it had occurred. By publicly denying that Sacha Baron Cohen’s lacy, pink bikini elicited a response out of him, Rudy Giuliani is actually proving the opposite. If you want to see more celebrities in strange costumes, then you need to watch Jason Momoa remove his muscles.
