New App Claims to Give Users a Psychedelic Trip Using Only Their Phone

The new app Lumenate takes the consumer on a wild ride.

Smartphones are huge. If that wasn’t obvious enough, you can check the stats. According to Statista.com, there were 3.6 billion people that used a smart phone in 2020. As crazy as that is, I don’t think it comes close to how insane this new app, called Lumenate, is. Apparently, Lumenate is designed to give the consumer a psychedelic trip by only using their phone.

The app, created by software engineers Tom Galea and Jay Conlon, was made in an effort to ‘make subconscious exploration more accessible than ever before.’

Now, I have not tried the app, but Lumenate is currently available on Google Play and the Apple App Store and has some great reviews. I am sure a few of those reviews were fabricated to boost downloads (example: I don’t know if user mfmfmfjfjkfkfkf is a real person). Still, the app has been rated by 109 people on the Apple App Store and it currently holds a four star rating.

Apparently, the way the app works is that you have to hold your smartphone up to your face with the flashlight facing you while you sit in a dark room with your eyes closed. And, like I said, I have not tried it, but there are too many testimonials for me to discount that this app actually works.

There is some science to it, but to me, this app is insane. Like, how can one replicate a psychedelic trip without actually having to take a drug like LSD or magic mushrooms? I guess that is why I am a writer and not a scientist/app developer, but that is besides the point.

I am not sure if I am going to try this app, but the concept is super cool and really shows how far technology has come. For all we know the next big app that comes out may give us human beings a chance to contact aliens
