The highly acclaimed new Netflix series Wednesday is based on the well-known and enduring Addams Family series, specifically the character Wednesday Addams. Jenna Ortega plays the lead role and has received a lot of praise for it, even getting a Golden Globe nomination. But Ortega alone isn’t enough to make the show enjoyable; the show also has a great cast that includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Fred Armisen, Gwendoline Christie, and Luis Guzmán, among others.

The teen actors are just as good, with Wednesday‘s roommate Enid Sinclair, a werewolf who became Nevermore Academy’s best friend. Enid says that Wednesday needs to stay single for a while. Still, she also says that “anything goes” regarding a possible future relationship between Wednesday and Enid.

Although Ortega and Myers have expressed their support for the ship in the past, they remain secretive about whether or not it will ever take place. Unsurprisingly, fans have drawn romantic connections between Wednesday and Enid because of their “opposites attract” relationship. Hundreds of edits, fan fiction, and other works feature the ship, known online as the “Wenclair.”

“I’d much rather see Wednesday stay single for a while, but I wouldn’t mind if she got a female love interest at some point,” Myers tells Variety after going through everything that happened to Wednesday in Season 1. It should be no surprise that fans romanticize Wednesday and Enid because of their “opposites attract” relationship.

She claims she has been in the dark about what will happen to her character or the cast. “I don’t know what the game plan is for anything” Wednesday just had a whole fiasco with her men; she’s got to lay it off for a little bit,” Myers continued. I wouldn’t have dated anyone If I had gone through that. Jenna, Emma’s co-star, had previously stated that she considers her character in “Wednesday” to be a gay icon. In addition, Ortega expressed doubt that Wednesday will date Percy White Hynes’ Xavier in season 2.
