VIDEO: These Deleted Scenes From Mrs Doubtfire Will Break Your Heart

The deleted scenes could have gave the comedy a much darker tone.

A few deleted scenes from Mrs Doubtfire have been made available to watch on YouTube and these heart wrenching scenes show just how much more sombre the film could have been.

Both of the deleted scenes are extremely emotional but the deleted scene where Robin Williams character Daniel argues with his ex-wife Miranda after she discovers that he has really been Mrs Doubtfire all along, will really pull at your heart strings. The clip on Youtube shows the pair arguing as their three children listen to the argument upstairs and begin to cry as they realise that they may possibly lose out on even more time with their father. The children decide to try and intervene but it only results in Lydia screaming that she hates both of her parents. Ouch.

The film is remembered for being a light-hearted comedy, but the deleted scene where Lydia asks her father why he and her mother cannot just pretend to get along will really break your heart. The emotional moment between father and daughter was a result of Lydia participating in a spelling bee, but she was unfortunately distracted by her parents arguing in the crowd. Lydia asks her father why can’t he “just pretend to be happy” and he replies to her saying: “I may act like a fool, but I am your father, OK? Always. Rain. Shine. That’s the one wonderful thing in my life.”

What a way to make our eyes well up!

These two deleted scenes bring a whole new meaning to the film and give the children in the film the chance to show what impact their parents’ divorce is having on them and their lives. However, it is understandable that the scenes were cut from the film as it makes the film much less comedic and light-hearted.

The two deleted scenes mentioned in this article, as well as others, were added onto the 2008 DVD release of the film, which is just as popular today as it was back when it was originally released in 1993.
