What’s better than a sequel? A threequel, of course (well, not always). Regardless, a third installment of Bill & Ted has received a release date, and we know you 80s and 90s babies are already bursting with excitement.

The Bill & Ted movies follow teenagers Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves), two aspiring heavy-metal musicians with a propensity for slacking. Oh, and they also travel through time. The first film, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, was released in 1989. A sequel, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, followed soon after in 1991. Since then, however, the characters have fallen off the radar.

At their peak in the 90s, the movies caught the attention of teenagers seeking funny and easily digestible media. Other than a short-lived live-action TV series and several video games based on the films, the movies didn’t find much widespread acclaim. That may change very soon, however. A third movie, Bill & Ted Face the Music, has been scheduled for release on August 21, 2020.

Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are slated to return to their original roles as the two numskull bandmates. Despite stepping away from their roles for 30 years, Alex and Keanu seem extremely excited for the upcoming film. Take it from the guys themselves.

Will a middle-aged Bill and Ted live up to the same status as in the 90s?  Threequels are rarely grounds for hype, but Alex and Keanu are A-list actors. They’ll find a way to make their 50-year old selves just as relevant as back in the day.

Check out some other movie sequels coming your way soon.
