Family at weddings is always a toughie. There’s always one liability who can’t resist causing trouble. Your drunken uncle, your mother in law, your… real wife and kids? Yeah, that may put a downer on nuptials, as Abraham Muyunda discovered just a few days ago.
Standing in the Catholic church of Chainda in the Zambian capital Lusaka, Muyunda seemed set to start the next chapter of his life. Alas, the course of true love rarely does run smooth, and Muyunda’s current wife Caroline Mubita had other ideas. Watch below:
I’m not sure any amount of cash behind the bar can revive that wedding. Caroline sped over to stop the ceremony after being informed by neighbours that her husband had lied about being ‘out of town’. Her arrival is met with unimaginable awkwardness from both Muyunda and his fiancee. This isn’t surprising given she knew he was married.
But this video is about more than a social faux pas. In Zambia the penalty for bigamy is seven years in jail. Muyunda appears to remember this as he holds his head in his hands.
So, the next time you see someone’s dad dancing at a family function take a moment to remember what you’ve seen here today. It may seem hard to believe, but there is something worse than your uncle trying to floss.
