WATCH: 19-Year-Old Skier Buried Under 2 Feet of Snow

Who knew snow could kill?

19-year-old skier made her way over to the French Alps last week with a group of pals, only to get stuck under thick layers of snow, and have a near death experience.

In the following video, 23-year-old William Field is skiing down the French Alps, when he notices a red ‘object’ in the near distance. As he comes closer, he finds the 19-year-old skier stuck in the snow, struggling to get out.

He draws near her, takes out a mini shovel from the safety kit in his backpack and starts shoveling the snow, as swiftly as possible. Another skier comes to a halting stop near them and starts scooping the ice with his bare hands.

The 19-year-old’s head and upper body were stuck under 2 feet of snow. “The snow was really thick and it could have been a life and death situation”. Field informed some sources at The Sun. “She could breathe, but there’s only so much oxygen down there.”

An Avalanche Buried Another Skier in Snow Last Month

On January 30th, Avalanche hit a slope in Switzerland and buried another skier then. Samaritans rushed towards her and digged her out of the thick layers of snow.

These events should be a reminder for us to take safety measures seriously, for the sake of our others’ wellness and safety.

But if you think it can’t get any worse than this in the snow, learn how one snowboarder survived an avalanche thanks to his birthday present.
