“Family Matters” Parody Video Ushers in Final Remarks On Trump Presidency

“Family Matters” parody by Pete Hand encompasses some of the events Former President Donald Trump and his staunch supporters took claim of.

In a way that almost seems to commemorate the end of a four-year-long presidency and a new beginning, an individual named Pete Hand took the theme song “As Days Go By” from the show “Family Matters” and blended it with snippets of outgoing individuals of the White House such as Donald Trump, Melania Trump, and more individuals of his “league.”

Former President Donald Trump, who appears the most times in the video when he is introduced and when he stuns with his iconic dance, seems to be the main character. Like Trump, the clips of the characters introduced to the audience are from intriguing moments of their public life–from Donald Trump Jr. laying down and livestreaming to Rudy Giuliani making a passionate speech outside.

Pete Hand is an individual on Twitter who boasts a plethora of media videos he compiles–many of them surrounding the topic of sports, entertainment, and politics.

In the short, almost-minute-long clip, “Nothing Matters” in bright, yellow font welcomes the viewer, taking the audience from political U.S. backdrops like the White House to the wide ranging cast that don’t just include the Trump family but individuals such as Kim Jong-un and Sean Hannity. However, all individuals deemed producers or other non-cast members are not members of the Trump family in the clip. Perhaps, this is a play on the family members and crucial Republican figures behind Trump that doesn’t dismiss other known supporters’ contributions to his one term as president.

On January 20th, Joe Biden took the stage as the 46th President of the United States in front of the U.S. Capitol. The location was a monumental place that some–angry that Trump wouldn’t be sitting in for the second term– wreaked with violence and chaos just a couple weeks prior. But in a wish for extra security for this inauguration, the place was staffed with extra National Guard members and many of the nearby streets were closed. The festivities inside did not give even traces of reminders of the hectic mess strewn all over the grounds from the U.S. Capitol riots.

His wife, Jill Biden, stood next to him. Other individuals were there too; this included Former President Barack Obama and Former First Lady, Michelle Obama. Former Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen Pence, came as well and welcomed the 49th Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff.

Former President Donald Trump, meanwhile, didn’t greet President Biden as was seen from presidents before him–an act of custom that exemplifies unity and grace. Instead, he took to leaving with Former First Lady, Melania Trump, to their home in Florida. However, according to a CNN article, Trump did apparently leave a letter for Biden on the Resolute Desk of the Oval Office–something that is in line with presidential traditions maintained in the past.

Pete Hand isn’t the only one taking jabs. Television host Jimmy Kimmel, too, uploaded a clever video onto YouTube titled “Goodbye Donald Trump” in the tone of “Na Na Na Na Hey Hey-ey Goodbye” by Steam. The animated video featured individuals like the Statue of Liberty to Smokey the Bear dancing jubilantly and fiercely in their own flair to the song.

It is evident that many individuals are breathing out their relief in cheerful, optimistic videos such as these. But, there is no doubt that there are still shards of distrust in the Biden administration and much polarization within the country itself. Since stagnancy isn’t the answer, this should be where the growth and healing blooms and continues.
