On Tuesday, December 3, several world leaders including the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau were caught on camera at the NATO summit, in London, mocking the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
In the video, Trudeau can be seen in a group with President Emmanuel Macron of France, Prime Minster Boris Johnson of United Kingdom, and Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands.
Trudeau can be heard saying to the group, that Trump was most likely late “because he takes a 40-minute press conference.” He is also audibly heard saying “You just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor,” most likely in response to Trump’s announcement that the G-7 summit, next year, would take place at Camp David.
In response to if he had seen the video, Trump responded that Trudeau was “two-faced.” He then continued on to say that, “I find him to be a very nice guy,” perhaps regretting his hasty words about the Canadian Prime Minister.
He continued on to say that the reason behind Trudeau’s words was most likely, “but you know, the truth is that I called him out on the fact he’s not paying 2%, and I guess he’s not very happy about it,” in reference to his urging that Canada pay 2% of their gross domestic profit on defense.
Trump can also be heard saying, “It’s Canada, they have money, and they should be paying 2%. So I called him out on that, and I’m sure he wasn’t happy about it, but that’s the way it is.”
The tension between the leaders of the United States and Canada is nothing new. In the past the two males had had a clash when Trump tried to give Trudeau an alpha handshake only for Trudeau to block Trump at his attempt of showing power by grabbing Trump by the shoulder.
There were also rumors in the past that Trump’s daughter Ivanka wanted to “bone” the Canadian, according to Sick Chirpse.
However in this case, perhaps Trump’s anger does not only lie with Trudeau but also with the men that Trudeau had been with in the video. Prime Minister Johnson is said to have been a long time ally and friend of Trump’s but avoided being photographed with the president at the NATO summit afraid that it would drop his ratings with British voters.
Trump was also openly questioned by President Macron for his comments about ISIS and corrected by the French president for his false claims several times, according to Business Insider.
No doubt Trump’s disastrous time at the NATO summit was why he cut the trip short and left London after only being there for two days.
