If you have not yet heard of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, you must be living under a rock. Recently, the Hollywood mogul came under fire after several accusations claimed he sexually harassed models and actresses. A previous chauffeur of Weinstein’s came forward to reveal that he used to drive these women around while they sobbed in the backseat.
Mickael Chemloul worked for the film producer from 2008 to 2013. While working for Weinstein in Cannes, Chemloul said he felt like he was driving the girls “into the lions mouth”. The driver even recalls a moment in the French Riviera when Weinstein exploded in rage and attacked him after several prostitutes didn’t meet them at a bar.
Chemloul spoke to French news station BFM TV:
“I had the impression of driving poor, innocent people, innocent women, taking them into the lion’s mouth and couldn’t say to them, ‘Watch your step, it’s dangerous’.”
He continued, speaking on behalf of the actresses:
“One that left the biggest impression on me was a woman who was a fan of his, who loved him, who had followed him for years.
She gave her body, her soul, everything to this man because he promised her castings and to make a film which was never shot.”
Thus far, Weinstein has been accused of raping numerous women, an allegation he “unequivocally denies”. A police audiotape from 2015 exposed his admittance to groping model Ambra Battilana Gutierrez. Big-name stars Gwenyth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie have also accused him of harassment, as have 25 other women.
After Weinstein struck Chemloul, the chauffuer realized he could no longer work for the executive. As if driving around crying women was not hint enough, Chemloul finally recognized how disgusting of a man Weinstein is. Harvey Weinstein has been rightfully exposed as a degenerate. Hopefully the women he has hurt can find peace.
With any luck, Hollywood will work a little harder to clean up its act.
