The long-awaited park will open its doors at the Disney Resort in Anaheim, California, as a new home for the beloved characters of Marvel’s 81-year comic book history. Introducing thrilling new rides, like nothing seen before, and stunt shows featuring the likes of Captain America, Black Widow, Black Panther and Spider-Man.
For the first time ever, fans will be able to be a part of the action!
Disney executives Bob Iger and Bob Chapek announced the opening date on March 11th and creative executive Scot Drake remarked:
“In some ways, these new campuses are like the Avengers themselves: a group of diverse individuals who have teamed up for the same purpose.
“This collection of unique addresses – each dedicated to a different discipline – have been brought together to champion the next generation of heroes.”
Among the three campuses is the eagerly anticipated Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as ‘WEB’- a new Spider-Man attraction that will be the first open to the public. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the ‘Web Slinger’ ride where guests will be able to shoot animated webs with Spidey using 3D glasses.
Avengers Headquarters will open in phase two as the entrance to an epic attraction where guests will hop aboard a Quinjet and ‘fly alongside the Avengers in an epic adventure to Wakanda and beyond.’
They’ll also get to ‘team up alongside the Avengers in a battle to save our world against one of the most powerful villains they’ve ever faced’ with seats that double as a jet pack and weapons system!
After a long day of fighting evil, guests can fuel up at Pym Test Kitchen. Modeled similarly to Ant-Man and The Wasp, it will use ‘the latest innovations to grow and shrink food.’ But if you’re seeking a normal sized meal, shawarma stands can be found alongside the attractions.
The official synopsis/backstory of the ambitious Avengers Campus states, “The Avengers are setting up new Headquarters and training facilities around the globe to inspire all potential recruits willing to step up and become something more.
“By bringing together the world’s brightest young inventors, the WEB is creating new interfaces that will empower all of us to join the ranks of Earth’s Mightiest.”
“As part of this global initiative, Tony Stark has founded the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – or WEB for short – to develop advancements in super-powered technology, including new enhancements to Spider-Man’s suit as their debut project.”
