Airbnb has been in the headlines a lot in recent months, most of which have been for negative reasons. This time though, it looks like they may have actually chosen something fun and whimsical with their new listing of Lucy the Elephant in New Jersey.
A source at the Mirror confirms that Airbnb has listed the beloved attraction on the Jersey Shore as their new rental location. But reservations will be going fast since it is only going to be available for “three nights of stays up for grabs-17th, 18th, and 19th of March” (mirror.co.uk 2). And these stays are for only one night at a time so competition will be fierce. But price wise for these one night stays, it’s not as expensive as you’d think: only $138 (mirror.co.uk 2). The price is to honor how long Lucy has been on the Jersey Shore. Considering it’s only going to be three, one night stays, the pricing is not as outrageous as I thought it would be.
Local News Anchor Gets The Public Excited About This Announcement
Here is a short video clip from the local news showing what it looks like inside of Lucy.
If you want to try to snag one of these one night stays, the bookings begin this Thursday, March 5th! As you can see from the video clip above, the interior is decorated in the Victorian style so it will also be a nice throwback to that style of decor. Since this is only for two people per stay, hopefully the chances of parties and Lucy getting trashed by people will be low. But with Airbnb being involved, anything is possible. If you are truly interested in staying with Lucy for a night, be serious and treat her right. She’s survived storms and weathering in her 138 years so far. Don’t ruin this for everyone else and see this as just another opportunity to trash a rental. Lucy is a piece of history and she deserves to be respected and treasured for many more years to come.
