Set to open in 2022, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel will allow fans to enjoy an immersive, sci-fi experience from their wildest dreams. There’s only one catch – they won’t be allowed to leave for the entire two-day duration of their stay.
The experience is reportedly similar to an escape room, meaning that guests have to stay there until it’s complete.
Opening at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida next year, the hotel stay will involve sleeping in “launch pods,” operating a spaceship, going to battle, and having a “space communicator.” Additionally, from the windows of the hotel room, you can gaze upon the mesmerising views of the galaxy outside.
At the Silver C Lounge, guests can refresh their stay with a variety of strong alcoholic beverages and play at the Sabacc card tables, whilst surrounded by cast members dressed as aliens. According to Disney, the lounge will be open to “passengers of all ages.”
Dates or prices have not yet been confirmed for the Star Wars hotel experience, but Mashable has estimated the cost to be around $1,400 per person. A bit expensive for sleeping in a pod and engaging in ‘space battles,’ if you ask me.
Disney has described the galactic, two-day experience as the following:
In a galaxy far, far away, progress continues at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, where guests will live aboard a starship for a 2-day, 2-night experience. Unlike any typical cruise, though, you can become the heroes of your own Star Wars story in a new type of immersive experience that only Disney could create.
Guests will cruise the galaxy in style aboard the Halcyon, known for its impeccable service and exotic destinations. Onboard, you’ll stay in well-appointed cabins, experience onboard dining, make a planet-side excursion to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu and much more.
I don’t think I’m quite sold on the whole adventure – but then again, I am more of a Harry Potter fan myself. Maybe just re-watch the movies instead for one-thousandth of the price?
