Dresses over pants
A polarizing trend popular in the early 2000s (think Ashley Tisdale’s 2000s red carpet looks) took center stage this New York Fashion Week. Designers like Collina Strada and Coach each put their own updated spins on the trend. Both designers featured slip dresses over baggy plaid trousers or jeans.

Even celebrity fashion stylists turn to thrifting when recreating runway looks. Rana, who’s based in New York City and works with stars like Avantika, Tyla, and Camila Cabello, mentioned that she likes to hit the thrift store when shopping on a budget.
Cherry red everything
Among this season’s it-colors was cherry red. Designers like Fforme, Altuzarra, and Calvin Klein all featured red monochromatic outfits. Fforme showed structured blazers and duster coats in red, while Altuzarra and Calvin Klein focused on flowy maxi dresses in the hue.

In: peplum silhouettes
Peplum silhouettes have been spotted at various New York Fashion Week shows this year. Stylist, Rana referred to the look as one of her top trends.
One of my favorites is the exaggerated hip. Peplums are coming back, but I want crinolines, panniers, and petticoats!

Accessories to keep an eye on
Once you’ve shopped the runway trends, you’ll need some accessories to bring your looks to the next level. Consider looking into bonnets, the hats that seem to be popping up everywhere from runways to street style. Similar to the cold weather favorite of the past few years, the balaclava, bonnets are typically knit hats that tie under the chin.
In addition to peplum silhouettes, stylist, Rana loves the current bonnet trend.
They are really big at the moment, but it’s going to continue through to FW25. I’m interested to see how brands and designers will reinvent them. I would be really excited to see a full beaded bonnet from MILA.
