Illegal Cage Communities In Hong Kong Strongly Resembles Tenement Housing From Our History Textbooks

What you are about to read may seem like something out of a history textbook, like Hoovervilles or tenement housing, but trust me, this is very real and very current.

Hong Kong, China, is easily one of the biggest and busiest cities in the world but it takes the cake for the most expensive real estate. Due to limited space and prices as high as any one of their skyscrapers, many of the city’s residents live on top of one another in “cage communities”. History seems to be repeating itself.

Not only are there several people to one tiny apartment, but some landlords have transformed one apartment into a series of enclosed beds, with each person receiving only six feet of space. And there’s no kitchen.
