Soft drink and caffeine lovers rejoice! Coca-cola will be releasing a new coffee-infused line of drinks in 2021 (sadly limited to the US for now).

For anyone who has ever craved a sweet, bubbly pick-me-up drink to get through the day, Coca-Cola will have you covered in 2021. 12 oz cans will be available in the US in three distinct Brazillian coffee-infused flavours: Dark Blend, Vanilla, and Caramel. According to North America Coca-Cola Vice President Jaideep Kibe the new line of drinks “sips like a Coke and finishes like a Coffee”.

Released in Australia in September of 2017, the drink was inspired to be a new way for Australians to consume the second most popular national beverage—coffee. According to CNN, the drink has had success in the few countries where it has already been released, namely Thailand and Italy. So far the Coca-Cola with Coffee has been released in 30 countries, with each line being tailored to local preferences of taste and packaging.

A standard 12 ounce can of Coke has 34mg of Caffeine, and a Diet Coke bumps you up to 46mg; both lower than a standard cup of coffee which provides around 95mg of caffeine. With this new line, a can of Coca-Cola With Coffee is the most highly caffeinated beverage, containing 69mgs per 12 ounces.

This isn’t the first time that Coca-Cola tried to release a coffee-infused line; back in 2006 ‘Coca-Cola Blak‘ was trialled in the US with little success. Some analysts argue however that its’ lack of success can be attributed to a lack of US consumer interest in coffee back in the day. Particularly as many are still going to be working from home, or do not feel safe enough to be making regular trips to their local coffee shops, Coca-Cola With Coffee provides a sweet and satisfying alternative.
