Colorado pioneered marijuana in the US. Now, they’re doing it again. CEO Matt Frost presents the very first weed vending machine. His vision was simple. Allow seasoned users to get quick in-and-out access to what product they want and leave the live interaction to those who need some more support.
The first machine has debuted in the Strawberry Fields dispensary in central Pueblo, Colorado. The brand has big plans hoping to open a second location this year and by 2021 expand to Nevada, California, and Canada.
I can see the allure. If you’ve ever went into a dispensary you know that there’s a lot to choose from. Picking out what you eventually end up buying can take a long time.
One time in my personal experience the worker behind the counter took down ten jars of different strains. From here he instructed me to smell all of them individually then follow my instinct on what to choose. As you can imagine this took quite a while and I’m pretty sure he was stoned himself. Consensus is that I think Matt Frost is on to something…
All vending machines will be inside dispensaries so underaged kids can’t get in. Your ID will still be checked upon entry and all that fun stuff. Once inside though, you are free to brows the screen for as long as you’d like. Almost like you’re picking out a movie on a RedBox machine.
“The partnership that we’re about to strike I have to keep under wraps for now, but [it’s] a very significant CBD distribution opportunity that we’re excited about. I think you’ll be seeing this rollout absolutely in the fall.”
With COVID-19 this is especially coming at a great time allowing limited face-to-face interaction. All this in mind, it’s good to remember that weed can f*ck you up. Check out this British tourist for instance that drove into a canal after being crossed off weed and laughing gas.
