WATCH: The Video That Suggests We May Be Living In A Simulated Universe

Because we all want to question our existence.

Because we all want to question our existence.

Anyone wishing to avoid an existential crisis may want to avoid this video, which basically argues we may all be advanced Sims.

The video describes itself as a thought experiment based on 5 assumptions, which, if true, suggest a very high probability that you and I are living in a simulated world.  However, as the video warns, the theory is based on assumptions, so who really knows?

The comments section is an understandably mixed bag of the confused, bemused, accepting and defiant. As one user put I “we could be […] in the Harry Potter universe, DC, Marvel but nah, we are stuck with Trump and climate change”.

The video was posted to YouTube channel Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell, which has nearly 5 million subscribers, and the video has been viewed nearly 3 million times. Other content from the channel includes discussions on whether aliens are really out there and cheery questions such as “Is Death Real?”

However, the publication of the video coincides with growing criticism towards Elon Musk’s assertions that artificial intelligence may turn against us.

Whatever the real answer is, it is perhaps not the best topic of thought for late at night.

Not bothered by the threat of artificial intelligence? Why not attend a rave organized by AI?
