True Detective Set To Return For A Third Season

We wait anxiously.

I think that after a rather disappointing season two, we are all hoping for something more reminiscent of season one in the upcoming season three of the hit HBO crime drama, True Detective.

We were all wowed by the thrilling comeback performances of both Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, but the season two casting of Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell did not quite stack up. Let’s hope that by having Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the show’s new star, along with a change in director, Jeremy Saulnier, it will ultimately alter the trajectory of the series, as well.

Alongside Ali will also appear Wayne Hays, who will play a detective from Northwest Arkansas. Screenwriter and Creator, Nic Pizzolatto is quite elated at the prospect of working with both Ali and Saulnier, and has expressed his optimism through the following quote.

“I’m tremendously thrilled to be working with artists at the level of Mahershala and Jeremy. I hope the material can do justice to their talents, and we’re all very excited to tell this story.”

Pizzolatto has burned through five scripts so far, and is waiting to make an official announcement for the start date once he has completed writing for the entire season.
