A follow up appearance by Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang was a highly anticipated sequel, in Toy Story 2 that was almost deleted had it not been for a newborn baby.
The 1999 animated, Pixar film features all of Andy’s toys getting together after their favorite sheriff, Woody, is kidnapped by a toy maker.
Toy Story 2 was Pixar’s third film filling the original Toy Story and A Bug’s Life back in 1998. The film took about 150 professionals in the lighting, modeling and animation departments to complete.
The team started to notice a sudden decrease in files for the created which prompted workers to call to get the servers cut as pieces of the film was being deleted.
Once the server was rebooted, it was later found that 90% of the film had been deleted with only 10% still remaining.
Supervising Technical Director, Galyn Susman had the ultimate solution as she had a copy of the completed work on her personal computer because she was mainly at home due to just giving birth to her baby.
The computer was delicately fetched from her house and brought back to the studio to be turned into a $100 million machine.
Though the files were a few weeks old, it was enough to put together a pitch to what we all know today as the finish project of Toy Story 2.
