Known for churning out incredible original content, Netflix has several upcoming new releases. Like this horror film about an Alexa-like machine gone rogue. From PFI Studios comes Tau.

We’ve all heard the stories about the creepy responses Amazon assistant Alexa randomly and unexpectedly gives. Director Federico D’Alessandro presents a similar tale of a smart house that captures victims and holds them hostage.

The movie is named Tau after the computer program in the futuristic smart house. Maika Monroe plays Julia, the woman imprisoned by the house. Through clever tactics she attempts to befriend the computer system and escape imminent danger. Gary Oldman voices Tau, and as you will see from the trailer below, Tau is far from the friendly Alexa:

AI robots may be the future, but they are still creepy as hell. People that keep Alexa and Google Assistants in their homes might get rid of them ASAP after this film. But Gary Oldman as an AI voice would still be pretty great.

This robot comes to life and to screens June 29th.

Ahead of the film’s release, watch these exclusive Netflix horror films that might be even too scary to finish.
