It sounds pretty promising so far.

This follows the success of 7 Resident Evil games, as well as 6 films.

If you don’t know what Resident Evil is by now, well I don’t know what to say to you. It’s a pretty massive franchise to say the least.

Created by Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara, the Japanese horror franchise (owned by Capcorn) is, at its core, a series of survival orientated horror games.

As the games have been so widely popular over the years, the franchise has gone on to produce live-action and animated films, novels, comic books, merch, and now? A Netflix show.

That’s right, despite the mixed reviews regarding the films, Netflix have taken on the task of creating a TV adaptation of the horror series.

This has only just been announced, so unfortunately there aren’t a huge amount of details yet, though an anonymous source divulged:

No one is commenting but I hear the plan is for the series to expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the existing mythology.
I hear the series will keep the basic premise, which also served as a setup for the move franchise.
The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.
While the project is in early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and ‘easter eggs’.

Sounds like it’ll be a good old, satisfyingly depressing dystopian if nothing else.

We’ll just have to wait and see I guess, and while we wait we can always play the pretty fantastic Resident Evil 7.

In more Netflix related news, the filming for another season of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ has already begun.
