Netflix Announce Plan To Add More Korean Drama Shows Soon

Image: Netflix

After the success of Squid Games, Netflix plans to expand its Korean content category. The consumption of Korean drama content has significantly increased over the platform, which intends the platform to think about adding more like that.

Netflix is adding more Korean content to its platform in 2023, entitled Netflix Originals. OTT brand Netflix is rumoured to get rights to more Korean entertainment content to add more titles to its sprawling slate for 2023.

Squid Games was the turning point for Netflix to spread its leg in Korean content, including movies and series.

Netflix’s Korean lineup includes Sweet Home, D.P., and The Glory. Romantic dramas like Behind Your Touch, Crash Course in Romance, King The Land, Destined With You, and many more are en route by Netflix to be premiered in 2023. And one non-romantic drama is also expected to be launched in 2023: The Good Bad Mother.

No doubt, if the plot of the series and movies are unique, Netlfix will gain more audience based on this Korean content.

The expansion to Korean content also includes nonfiction content like Siren: Survive The Island, Nineteen To Twenty, Zombieverse and The Devil’s Plan.

Last but not least, Netflix is adding a true-crime documentary as well, i.e., In The Name Of God: A Holy Betrayal.

Why Is Netflix Heading Towards Korean Content?

True, Netflix’s move towards Korean content has significantly improved in recent years, and the reason is the popularity of this content beyond their native country. With a large 220 million subscriber base, the OTT brand Netflix is thinking of adding more and more language-centric content that can be served to different regions. Netflix has made this clear to its viewers and users that Korean content can easily be consumed, which is not available on other streaming services like network television or local cinema.
