Leonardo DiCaprio’s dad has got his first ever acting role in a new film by legendary director Paul Thomas Anderson.

The film is Licorice Pizza – where George DiCaprio plays the part of a water-bed salesman. Oscar-winner Leo does not feature himself but confirmed the news in a December red-carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight.

He said:

“I haven’t seen it yet, but my dad George DiCaprio has a cameo in a Paul Thomas Anderson movie.

Today was a good day.”

He also added that his dad sold waterbeds in real life.

George is more used to standing behind the camera lens as a producer on the sets of films, TV series, and documentaries.

He boasts 16 production credits on IMDB.

Licorice Pizza tells the story of two young lovers Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up and experiencing first love in California’s San Fernando Valley in 1973.

Sean Penn, Bradley Cooper, Alana Haim, and Cooper Hoffman all feature in Licorice Pizza.

Although Leo will not be starring in Paul’s film with his dad, he has been turning heads with his recent Netflix film about the realities of climate change.

Don’t Look Up tells the story of two scientists, played by Leo and Jennifer Lawrence, hoping to warn the world about a humanity-destroying comet.

Leo’s film also nabbed an all-star cast including Mark Rylance, Jonah Hill, and Timothée Chalamet.
