A new trailer has been released for renowned director, M.Night Shyamalan’s, new psychological thriller ‘OLD’. The haunting trailer details the setting of the movie which appears to be a sedate beach that then comes the source for an ensue of chaos, confusion and a clash of timelines – reuniting past, present and future.
With the title of ‘OLD’, the trailer prompts a brief analysis of the contents of the film which explores the fear of growing old, the rapid pace of time and its limitations.
The concept of this film was inspired by a present from Shyamalan’s daughter gifted to him on Father’s Day: the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters, and witnessing the growth of his own daughters, as Shyamalan mentioned himself in a recent interview with the New York Times.
Universal Pictures describes the film as “a chilling mysterious new thriller about a family who begin to age rapidly on a secluded beach, reducing their entire lives into a single day.”
With a cast of incredibly powerful actors, the release date for OLD has been set for release in the United States on 23rd July 2021, with principal photography having already started in September, in the Dominican Republic. This marks Shyamalan’s first departure from filming inside Greater Philadelphia.
M.Night Shyamalan has long been celebrated for his intricate psychological stories. His very recent success has been the anticipated second series of Servant on Apple TV. The episodes are being released weekly and are definitely worth a watch if you have yet to catch up; in preparation for this new psychological thriller about a concept (time) that has been altered for everyone during the events of 2020 and 2021.
