Andrew Garfield Claims Keeping His Role As Spider-Man In ‘No Way Home’ Was Stressful And Thrilling At The Same Time

Spider-Man No Way Home has been one of the most popular films of the year so far.

Andrew Garfield’s return as Spidey in the latest Spider-Man film No Way Home, alongside Tom Holland and the OG Tobey Maguire was a dream come true for many Marvel fans!

It has been a while since we have seen Andrew Garfield on our screen as Spider-Man so the thought of him taking on the role again caused a lot of excitement amongst the Marvel community.  By including all 3 actors who played Spider-Man, one could argue that this film is the most sentimental film of the year!

A bit of background information…

Andrew Garfield is a British-American actor who played Peter Parker, otherwise known as Spiderman, in two solo films of The Amazing Spider-Man series in 2012 and 2014.

He revealed that lying about his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home was both stressful but also weirdly enjoyable. The actor had to avoid prying journalists and fans ever since the discussion for a live-action multiverse came about. However, he no longer has to keep the secret and is happy everyone now knows!

Ever since the release of the film, Andrew has been open about his role as Spider-Man and he confirmed that he would return to star in another film if it felt like it was the right time.

Keeping secrets

It was like this massive game of Werewolf (where people have to hide their true identity) that I was playing with journalists and with people guessing, and it was very fun.

We have all played Werewolf at some point in our lives and we can relate to how stressful it is when you are the werewolf. It involves having to lie to your friends’ faces and trying to convince them that you are one of the good guys. One wrong move and you’ll give the whole game away.

By playing along with this guessing game, it made fans all the more excited to see the release of this new film. Keeping his role a secret contributed to the success of the film and No Way Home currently has a worldwide box office gross that stands at more than $1.5 billion.

No Way Home

For those of you who have not seen the film yet, I encourage you to go to the cinema as soon as you can. No Way Home follows Peter Parker’s journey as his identity as Spider-Man has now been revealed. Watch how he attempts to balance his normal life as a high school student with his life as a superhero.

If you haven’t seen the original Spider-Man films then I would recommend binge watching them before your cinema trip as this will help you to fully appreciate the emotional intensity when you see three generations of Spider-Man together on the big screen.
